History of Electrolysis
Hair removal can be traced back into the cave man times when men were tired of long beards. First shaving was done by semi-sharp stone and may not have been easy. The Egyptians and Greeks liked their armies to look uniform with trimmed beards. And then came fashionable grooming in Victorian period. It was the industrial revolution that brought metal blades for man to shave safely and comfortably. The first safety razors using a new disposable blade were introduced around 1902 by Gillette. But none of the above methods offered permanent solution to the ever growing hair.
Electrolysis - permanent hair removal using fine wire attached to the battery was invented by Dr. Charles Michel in 1875. Dr. Michel, an ophthalmologist, used the method to remove painful ingrown eyelashes. He found that a small amount of current flowing into a hair follicle destroys the hair forever.
Electrolysis treatment today is a safe and permanent solution for unwanted hair. Sterile hair-thin probe is inserted into the hair follicle opening down to the dermal papilla. A low level electric current is applied to destroy the hair papilla. The hair is then loosened and removed
Electrolysis has been used for over 135 years. It is suitable for all hair types and all skin colors.
